Grundfos Hygienic self-Priming (GHP)

Posted by on Thursday, 7 May, 2015

Grundfos’ new range of GHP (Grundfos Hygienic self-Priming) pumps takes efficiency and durability to new levels in sanitary processes.

The pumps are based on the well-known HILGE technology and are further optimised to offer reliable operation even under the tough conditions encountered in cleaning processes.

The single-stage self-priming GHP pumps combine the best of the F&B-HYGIA end-suction pumps with the reliable HILGE technology. The result is an optimised pump range that comes with increased efficiency compared to traditional side-channel pumps and can be counted on for long operational life.

One pump – More applications

Due to the robust construction of the new GHP pumps they are able to handle liquids with a high content of air as is the case in CIP return systems.

In effect, this means that the same pump can be used for product conveyance as well as for the cleaning processes. Compared to side-channel pumps, GHP pumps are also less sensitive to handling products containing particles.

Low noise operation

The GHP pumps feature a new, unique hydraulic technology that allows the impeller to be adjusted to accommodate exact duty-point requirements.

This translates into a noise level significantly lower than compared to traditional side-channel pumps.

Specially designed for sanitary applications

The all-stainless steel GHP pumps have been specially designed for trouble-free operation in sanitary processes such as:

  •  Cleaning processes (CIP return)
  •   Evacuation of tanks and pipes
  •   Pumping liquids with a high gas content
  •   Pumping liquids in Food and Beverage industries.

The Unilift KP. Single-stage, submersible, stainless steel drainage pump in a robust design with upward-pointing discharge port positioned on the top of the pump. The outer casing is made in one piece. The mains cable and the cable of the level switch are both connected to a single, vulcanized, water-tight plug which is inserted in a socket on the hermetically-sealed stator housing. The motor is a single- or three-phase synchronous canned motor with liquid-filled rotor chamber and water-lubricated bearings.

The motor is cooled by the pumped liquid flowing around it.

  • Enclosure class: IP 68
  • Insulation class: F

The motor incorporates automatic overload protection which cuts out the motor in the event of overload. When it has cooled to normal temperature, the motor restarts automatically.

Applications

The Grundfos Unilift KP pumps are designed for the pumping of:

  • Water and rainwater in horticulture
  • Water from rivers and lakes
  • Rainwater, drainage water and water from flooding
  • Water for filling/emptying containers, ponds, tanks, etc.

Grundfos Jockey Pump

Posted by on Monday, 4 May, 2015

A jockey pump is a small pump connected to a fire sprinkler system in order to maintain a certain pressure in the sprinkler system, and sized to ensure that if a fire-sprinkler is activated, there will be a system pressure drop.

A jockey pump is a small pump connected to a fire sprinkler system to maintain pressure in the sprinkler pipes. This is to ensure that if a fire-sprinkler is activated, there will be a pressure drop, which will be sensed by the fire pumps automatic controller, which will cause the fire pump to start.

A jockey pump is sized for a flow less than the flow to one sprinkler in order to ensure a system pressure drop. Hence a jockey pump is an important part of the fire pumps control system.

Jockey pumps are typically small multistage centrifugal pumps, and do not have to be listed or certified for fire system application. The control equipment for jockey pumps may however carry approvals.

Grundfos Disinfection

Posted by on Thursday, 30 April, 2015

Disinfection is accomplished both by filtering out harmful microbes, by adding disinfectant chemicals in the last step in purifying drinking water. Water is disinfected to kill any pathogens which pass through the filters. Public water supplies in most countries are required to maintain a residual disinfecting agent throughout the distribution system, in which water may remain for days before reaching the consumer.

Grundfos can supply complete dosing pump systems for large or small volumes and based on different technologies for flocculation, disinfection, and pH adjustment. Moreover, the Grundfos range of electronic and electrochemical accessories offers complete control of your dosing and disinfection processes and can be seamlessly integrated into your system.

Traditionally, chlorine compounds are the most widely used method for chemical disinfection. Grundfos can advise and supply disinfection solutions using chlorine compounds such as chlorine gas (Cl2), sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), and chlorine dioxide (ClO2).

Grundfos can supply pumping solutions to cope with the hugely varying flow requirements of water to be treated, ranging from huge split-case and mixed-flow pumps, where the focus is on moving water rather than added pressure, to our highly successful vertical multistage centrifugal pump (CR) – and covering all performance requirements in between.

Grundfos can supply the specialist expertise to help meet your performance objectives, from the initial identification of needs, to the selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of the pumping solution. Grundfos commissioning agreements ensure correct installation and service agreements cover all eventualities, from routine maintenance to spare parts and pump audits.

Grundfos Unilift AP

Posted by on Wednesday, 29 April, 2015

The Unilift AP and Unilift AP Basic are submersible drainage pumps designed for both temporary/portable installation and permanent free-standing installation. These single-stage pumps are made mostly of stainless steel. All types are available in either single phase or three phase versions and for 50 or 60 Hz power supply.

The number in the type designation, e.g. AP12, indicates the spherical particle size that can pass through the pump.

All Unilift AP and AP Basic pumps are fitted with a plug for connection to the mains.

Unilift AP is a single stage pump with either semi-open impeller (AP12) or with vortex impeller (AP35 and AP50). All Unilift AP pumps are fitted with a stainless steel sleeve for cooling during operation. The strainer at the bottom prevents particles larger than the pump is designed for from entering the pump. The strainer is clipped onto the pump housing. All Unilift AP pumps can be supplied with or without float switch, for automatic or manual operation. Pumps with an ”A” in the type designation are fitted with a float switch. 3-phase versions have an additional starter box connected to the float switch. The outlet is positioned at the top of the pump and is available in Rp 1 1/2 to Rp 2.

An optional non-return flap valve can be fitted in the outlet in order to prevent backflow.

Unilift AP Basic pumps are single-stage pumps (AP35B, AP50B) with vortex impeller. All Unilift AP Basic pumps are made of stainless steel, with a composite baseplate. The Unilift AP Basic range is designed for submerged operation, either free-standing on the base plate or installed using an auto coupling. The pump inlet is designed to prevent to large particles from entering the pump. The base plate is clipped on by means of four clips hidden under the composite ring at top of the pump housing. The ring prevents dirt from sticking to the clips. All Unilift AP Basic pumps can be supplied with or without float switch, for automatic or manual operation. Pumps with an ”A” in the type designation are fitted with a float switch. The outlet is positioned at the side of the pump and is R 2.

Applications

  • Water and rainwater in horticulture
  • Water from rivers and lakes
  • Rainwater, drainage water and water from flooding
  • Water for filling/emptying containers, ponds, tanks, etc.
  • Effluents from showers, washing machines and sinks below sewer level
  • Pool water
  • Ditch drainage water
  • Groundwater (lowering applications)
  • Domestic effluents from septic and sludge-treating systems
  • Liquids containing fibres from light industry, laundries, etc.
  • Effluents from viaducts, underpasses, etc.
  • Drainage water from garage sprinkler systems

Features and benefits

Unilift AP is for permanent or temporary free-standing installations. Most components are made of stainless steel. Cable fitted by means of a plug. Available in both automatic and manual versions. Single-phase versions have an integrated thermal switch.
